Vague Notion Releases A Cinematic New EP ‘Glow’

LISTEN HERE | MEDIA ASSETS

Emerging from the mountain town of Nelson, British Columbia, Vague Notion continues to carve out a distinct space in contemporary indie electronic music with the release of their new EP, GLOW, a six-track, 22-minute journey through post-punk indietronica, cinematic textures, and emotionally charged storytelling.

Since forming in 2013, the duo has steadily developed a sound that blends atmospheric electronic production with expressive guitar work and unmistakable vocals, resulting in music that feels both intimate and expansive. Drawing from indietronica, synthpop, rock, and jazz influences, Vague Notion crafts compositions that prioritize mood, movement, and emotional evolution, often unfolding in unexpected ways that balance tension and release.

At the core of the project is vocalist Cheryl Janzen, whose delivery has drawn comparisons to Chrissie Hynde—cool, direct, and emotionally grounded. She plays most of the synth tracks, and she also co-produced the songs. Her voice anchors the duo’s layered sonic landscapes, shifting fluidly between restrained introspection and quietly powerful intensity, always maintaining a strong human presence within the electronic atmosphere.

Alongside her is multi-instrumentalist Bevan Early, whose distinctive guitar work brings rhythmic complexity and melodic depth. Influenced by South and West African guitar traditions as well as jazz, Early weaves intricate patterns that interact dynamically with synth-driven arrangements, adding both motion and texture to the duo’s evolving sound.

Together, Janzen and Early create a musical dialogue where organic musicianship and electronic production coexist seamlessly, forming a signature style that is both exploratory and cohesive.

Vague Notion’s music has gained increasing international attention across independent radio platforms. Their track “Base Sick” was professionally adjudicated by Juno Award–winning and Grammy-nominated musician Michael Hanson of Glass Tiger, who offered strong praise for the duo’s songwriting and sonic identity.

The project has also achieved notable chart success:

  • “Base Sick” reached #5 on Banks Radio Australia
  • “We Made It So” went to #5 at Valley FM 89.5 in Australia
  • “Peace Dub” reached #4 on Valley FM and Phoenix FM (January 2026)
  • “Visceral Reaction” reached #4 on Phoenix FM (UK, March 2026)

These milestones reflect the duo’s growing presence across the global indie radio landscape and continued resonance with international audiences.

Their latest EP, GLOW, marks an evolution in the Vague Notion sound, expanding the emotional palette while retaining the atmospheric depth that defines their work. The release introduces brighter melodic energy and a sense of forward motion, moving between introspection and uplift in a way that feels both cinematic and grounded.

Inspired by the landscapes of British Columbia’s Interior and the duo’s physical and spiritual experiences within them, GLOW reflects a creative process rooted in exploration and reinvention. Cheryl Janzen’s lyrics span themes of the human condition, contradiction, fantastical storytelling, and inner journeys, while Bevan Early’s production pushes sonic boundaries with each track.

Working independently from their base in rural British Columbia, Vague Notion continues to refine a sound that is emotionally resonant, genre-defying, and unmistakably their own, music that invites listeners into a space where melody, groove, and human connection converge.

“GLOW, is Vague Notion at their most expansive and emotionally luminous, an EP that moves like shifting light through mountain air. It captures their signature blend of cinematic electronics and raw human expression, while pushing into a brighter, more forward-facing energy that feels both fearless and deeply alive,” shares music publicist Danielle Holian, Decent Music PR.

Rudi Burke Shares New Single “Red, dead Ladybugs” Ahead of 2026 Debut Album Beauty Left Within

LISTEN HERE | DOWNLOAD SONG | MEDIA ASSETS

Rudi Burke returns with his latest single, “Red, dead Ladybugs”. The track offers a first glimpse into his debut album, Beauty Left Within, set for release in 2026. Blending acoustic textures with indie-folk sensibilities and a subtle rock undercurrent, the song captures Burke’s signature balance between intimacy and emotional weight.

The inspiration behind the track comes from a quiet yet striking moment. On a cold, stormy winter morning, Burke discovered two dead ladybugs on his windowsill. The image lingered with him—small, delicate creatures that had endured so much, only to succumb to the harshness of winter. Reflecting on their fleeting existence and quiet purpose, he was drawn into deeper thoughts about life, death, and the fragile beauty that exists within both.

This reflection gave rise to “Red, dead Ladybugs,” a melancholic, folky acoustic piece that explores the brevity of life and the human longing for warmth and connection. The song gradually builds tension through a warm and minimal arrangement, guiding the listener through meditations on time, love, and meaning. It poses questions rather than offering answers, about how little time we have, how inevitable our search for love is, and how our actions can feel both insignificant and deeply meaningful at the same time.

Originally from Gelsenkirchen, Germany, Rudi Burke is a singer-songwriter whose sound moves between the intimacy of indie folk and the energy of alternative rock. His music is defined by a raw, emotional vocal delivery, carefully crafted arrangements, and English-language songwriting that connects immediately without feeling intrusive. Rather than polished perfection, his work embraces authenticity, sounding less like studio gloss and more like lived experience, honest, melodic, atmospheric, and shaped by a journey that found its way to music through detours.

With “Red, dead Ladybugs,” Burke continues to carve out a space that is both introspective and universally relatable, offering a quietly powerful preview of what listeners can expect from Beauty Left Within in 2026. His influences echo through the work, artists such as Brian Fallon, Jason Isbell, Tom Petty, Dave Hause, Jim Croce, J Mascis, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Robert Earl Keen, yet the result remains distinctly his own, grounded in sincerity and emotional clarity.

The single sits comfortably within the broader spectrum of singer-songwriter, alternative rock, indie folk, indie rock, and even subtle traces of punk rock, reflecting Burke’s wide-ranging musical sensibilities.

“Red, dead Ladybugs” was written, composed, and performed by Rudi Burke, with production by Thomas Erkelenz.

Colm Warren Returns with Powerful New Single ‘Without You’: An uplifting, deeply personal release shines a light on inclusion, family, and the transformative power of love

Listen Here | Music Video | Media Assets

Derry-born songwriter Colm Warren, formerly frontman of Belfast punk outfit The Twenty, continues his singular artistic journey with the release of his new single “Without You”, the first in a series of upcoming releases planned throughout 2026. Released on World Down Syndrome Day, the track is accompanied by a striking and heartfelt video created in collaboration with Down Syndrome Cork, already earning praise for its message of inclusion, compassion, and hope.

“Without You” marks another bold evolution in Warren’s career, which has seen him move from the raw urgency of punk to a richly textured, orchestral sound. After stepping away from music for nearly a decade, Warren re-emerged in 2020 with his debut solo single “Void,” followed by “Shame” and “Choked, a trilogy exploring themes of alienation and existential struggle. Subsequent releases such as “Just Me” and “September Roses” hinted at a more reflective and grounded perspective, while 2023’s “Truth,” a haunting duet with Irish performer Maeve Smyth, drew widespread acclaim and led to a landmark performance with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. At that concert, Warren also delivered a widely praised tribute to the late Shane MacGowan with a poignant rendition of “A Rainy Night in Soho,” performed with just piano accompaniment to a captivated audience.

Throughout 2024, Warren released a trio of singles, “Alright,” “Dead Days,” and “Thinking of You”, each accompanied by visually compelling videos that collectively amassed over 140,000 views online. “Alright,” in particular, resonated strongly with listeners and critics alike, with Clash describing it as “a moving listen… unveiling a true vulnerability.” In 2025, Warren offered a powerful reinterpretation of Guns N’ Roses’ “Estranged,” further cementing his reputation as an artist unafraid to excavate deep emotional terrain.

Now, with “Without You,” Warren turns his focus toward family. Written for his sister Emma McCarthy and inspired by her relationship with her son Ódhrán, the song is a tribute to the profound impact of children born with Down syndrome.

Warren explains, “Emma and her husband Joe’s relationship with my nephew Ódhrán is something special to behold. Despite the challenges they face, his impact has been nothing short of life-saving in the most beautiful way. He’s taught us all so much about love and what it truly means to be a good parent and a decent human being. This song was my way of telling her that I see that.”

The accompanying video, directed by Tetsuhiko Endo and produced by Therese Shannon at Rubberduck, places members of the Down Syndrome Cork community front and centre. Featuring performances from Sean McMahon, Emma O’Connor, David Wall and Mike Clifford, the video celebrates creativity, visibility, and joy, with participants cast as both performers and audience.

Endo notes, “We wanted to ensure that people with Down syndrome were unquestionably the protagonists. With the support of Down Syndrome Cork, we worked with an incredible group of young creatives who brought such commitment and energy to the project. It was a truly special experience.”

Nikky Slattery, Operations Manager at Down Syndrome Cork, described the collaboration as transformative, “This project gave our members a real sense of ownership and visibility. They weren’t just included, they were leading. It showcases their talent, confidence, and the joy they bring to every space they’re part of. It’s a powerful statement about inclusion in its truest sense.”

Musically, “Without You” blends Warren’s signature emotive vocal style with lush orchestration, featuring an arrangement by John Byrne performed by the Bulgarian Symphonic Orchestra. Recorded at The Nutshed Studio in Co. Offaly and produced by Joe Egan and John Byrne, the track exemplifies Warren’s commitment to artistic authenticity and emotional honesty.

The video has already been highlighted as “A Reason To Be Happy” on Newstalk’s Lunchtime Live, while TheJournal.ie praised both the song and its visual counterpart for their celebration of positivity and inclusion.

An artist who has consistently defied expectations, Colm Warren remains guided not by trends but by an uncompromising creative instinct. His work continues to resonate with those who discover it, often unexpectedly, offering moments of connection, reflection, and, increasingly, hope.

“Colm Warren is one of those rare artists who operates entirely on his own terms; ‘Without You’ is a beautiful, deeply human piece of work that doesn’t just showcase his evolution as a songwriter, but also his ability to connect, uplift, and give voice to stories that truly matter,” shares music publicist Danielle Holian, Decent Music PR.

“Without You” is out now.

Katie Dauson’s Newest Single “Go Go Go”: Ontario’s hidden talent with strong influences of folk, psychedelic rock, and country

Katie Dauson announces the release of “Go Go Go”, via Frog & Bog Records. The single is a continuation of her signature sound, but this time with musical influences of garage rock, soul, and R&B from the 1960s.

Katie Dauson is a dynamic singer-songwriter who hails from Richmond Hill, Ontario. Her music discography has been prominently featured in magazine publications such as Earmilk, Tinnitist, and Urbanista Magazine. Throughout her musical career, she has performed throughout the Toronto music scene, in notable venues, with an emphasis on garnering more of a sophisticated career in music, outside of pub culture. Dauson has an upcoming show on June 6th, 2026, at the El Mocambo in Toronto, Canada. Fans will surely go crazy for her live performances as she is known for her vibrant energy and charming repertoire.

She has had quite a journey in self-discovery which ultimately led to her music career today. Dauson’s talents are sourced not just from the right side of her brain, but also through research in science such as physics and astronomy. She has notably worked for Tom Bolton, an astronomer who discovered the first black hole before finding her footing in music. Through immersion of organic environments in live music, Dauson was able to get the courage to start performing live. She has amassed a loyal fanbase online through those experiences, who regularly look forward to her new releases.

Katie Dauson’s “Go Go Go” brings in a fresh interpretation of the genre filled with colors painted by her favorite bands of the 60s, particularly The Young Rascals. Audiences should recognize that her music is constantly evolving, with an emphasis on never putting herself into one box.

About Katie Dauson

Independent artist, Katie Dauson has unveiled her latest single “Go Go Go”, a vivacious garage-rock track inspired by sounds of the 1960s, compelling audiences to get up off their feet with its catchy guitar riffs and upbeat tempo. Originally, the song wasn’t supposed to see the light of day, with Dauson unsure of its purpose and potential. The great thing about writing songs is that you can always bring them back to life, and create something new out of it, no matter how long it’s been since its composition. “I wrote this song initially two years ago and put it on ice, because even though I liked it, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it. I finally decided to record it late last year and make it a single.” Musically, “Go Go Go” draws inspiration from 1960s rock and roll, specifically the Young Rascals first two albums “The Young Rascals” and “Groovin’.” The recording process was unique, as it always tends to be with Katie Dauson’s productions, with a left-handed Rickenbacker 1997 guitar to bring in those captivating riffs. “I do remember writing it on a sunny afternoon, and I definitely had in mind that I wanted people to be able to dance to this song.”

Mary Milton Unleashes A Moving Tribute and an Intimate Work In ‘On My Shoulder’

With the vocal power of Jessie J, the sonic depth of Adele, the soulful stylings of H.E.R., and anthemic earworms reminiscent of Emeli Sandé, singer-songwriter Mary Milton unveils her new single, “On My Shoulder,” an intimate and deeply emotional song written in memory of her father, who passed away last year. With this release, the artist opens a new chapter in her musical journey—one marked by honesty, vulnerability, and resilience.

Developed over five years from conception to completion, the record stands as a testament to perseverance, artistic evolution, and the determination to hold onto an idea while navigating life’s twists and turns.

Created across multiple homes and cities while balancing various jobs and the uncertainties of mid-to-late twenties adulthood, Watermelon & Ginger captures the essence of growth through movement. The album reflects both personal and artistic transformation, embodying the resilience required to bring a long-held vision to life.

Built upon fast-moving chord sequences, rock-inspired song structures, and minimalist arrangements, the album places the guitar firmly at its core. Drawing inspiration from a diverse array of artists, Curly Mouth channels influences that span folk, jazz, indie rock, and beyond, resulting in a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly original.

“Watermelon & Ginger is a bold and captivating debut; an album that dances effortlessly between genres while showcasing Curly Mouth’s sharp songwriting, playful spirit, and unmistakable artistic voice,” shares music publicist Danielle Holian, Decent Music PR
